ARUWE (Action for Rural Women’s Empowerment) is a Ugandan NGO transforming the lives of women and girls in rural communities. From our roots as a small community-based initiative, we’ve grown into a national force for change advancing gender equality through health, education, climate resilience, and economic empowerment.
We partner with communities to break down barriers, nurture leadership, and shift power from the ground up. Our programs are holistic, rights-based, and deeply local driven by the belief that true change begins when women lead, speak up, and shape the systems around them.
Women gain tools, training, and support to grow food, start businesses, form cooperatives, and claim their economic rights.
Access to SRHR, HIV, and GBV services is improved through safe spaces, outreach, youth education, and trained care providers.
Girls and youth access education through improved WASH, menstrual health, safe learning environments and practical skills training.
Women become climate leaders through clean energy use, advocacy training, and sustainable environmental awareness campaigns.
“ARUWE offers a unique opportunity for people to challenge themselves and get fit, while raising money for a great cause. We look forward to continuing to work with the team in the future.”
“ARUWE creates a significant impact to the livelihood of women and children in rural areas than one could possibly imagine considering available resources.”
